Embracing Furry Companions: Our Adoption Process
At our rehoming center, we approach each adoption with care and responsibility, ensuring a harmonious match between our dogs and their prospective families. Here’s an overview of our adoption policy:
Comprehensive Assessment for Every Pooch
Upon their arrival, each dog undergoes a thorough assessment. This includes insights into their personality, approximate age, social compatibility with other dogs, and a health evaluation. Our commitment is to provide you with the most accurate and helpful information about your potential new family member.
Consideration for Stray Dogs and Families with Children
Due to the limited history available for our stray dogs, we typically refrain from rehoming them to households with children under the age of 10 years. While there may be some flexibility based on individual dogs, our priority is the safety and well-being of both the dog and your family.
Personal Introduction: The Meet and Greet
We encourage all family members to participate in a meet and greet with the prospective furry family member. If you have another dog, their presence during this introduction is invaluable. To ensure a thoughtful decision, we request two separate visits before progressing to the next step.
Home Visit: Ensuring a Happy Home
Following the initial meetings, we arrange a home visit to ensure that your living environment is secure and suitable for your new companion. A particularly secure garden is one of our key considerations during this assessment.
Transition Period: Patience and Understanding
Many of our dogs arrive as strays, necessitating a period of adjustment in their new homes. It’s important to be prepared for initial challenges such as accidents or mild chewing, which usually subside as they settle into their new surroundings.
Health and Well-Being Assurance
Prior to leaving our shelter, most dogs are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, and flea-treated. We take these measures to ensure the health and well-being of your new friend. All adoptions from our center are provided free of charge.
Continued Support: A Lifelong Partnership
Adopting a rescue dog is a remarkable act, and we are immensely grateful to those who open their homes to our furry friends. Our commitment doesn’t end with adoption—our team is always available to offer follow-up advice and support throughout your journey with your new family member.
At our rehoming center, we believe in creating lasting connections between our dogs and their adoptive families. Thank you for considering adopting a rescue dog and becoming a part of our extended family.
